Well it looks like we’ll have some favas after all, our first ever out of the garden.

The most successful crop of spinach I’ve grown is coming to a yummy end.

Buckwheat from a test patch I planted to see how long it would take to mature.

Peperoncini and a few padrones pickled for a week so far. After tasting these I’m glad there’s a large bottle of whole peperoncini pickling in the fridge.

Here are some late season photos showing our new Japanese maple tree and some vegetables and herbs. It does appear there will be no bounty of end of season green tomatoes like there were last year.

On the plus side, the basil plant on the left side of that photo seems to be a combination of thai basil and genovese. Not sure if that’s easily possible but that plant looks like genovese and smells like thai. I’m partially convinced I’ve made a hybrid.

Last weekend’s beets, amarillo and other carrots and half of the small potato harvest. Next year is either planting potatoes in the ground or finding varieties that work well in the potato bags I used this year. Still, they tasted dang good. Those beet and carrot leaves and some herbs made a nice veg broth. Sadly missing from this photo are tomatoes which are just about spent for the year. Boo - I had tomatoes through Sept last year.

Something about this tomato (Japanese Black Trifele) is off. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

I really like our hanging plants this season.
